KSA-140: Digital Media & Art I

3 credit hours
Through the use of computers, video, photography and sound, students will be introduced to the basic concepts of art and design in space and time. Assignments emphasize characteristics of time and movement, moving image, serial, sequential, and narrative ordering, still and moving image editing, sound and image relations, as well as Media installation and performance. This course introduces the basic technical skills and fundamental concepts of digital art and design through projects using Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant software. Through an investigation of the history of digital media, students will gain an understanding of digital culture and its connection to social, aesthetic and theoretical issues.
