Post-Master's Certificate Option: Nurse Practitioner Track
The Post-Master's option is designed for previous MSN graduates who desire the Certificate for Nurse Practitioner completion in either the Family, Adult/Gerontology Health Nurse, Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse, or Pediatric track. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the ANCC (American Nurse Credentialing Center) Adult/Gerontology, Family, or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner board certification examination or the AANP (American Academy Nurse Practitioner) Adult/Gerontology or Family Nurse Practitioner board certification examination. The Post-Master's certificate tracks vary in credit hour requirements, depending upon the previous work of the applicant. Normally, the applicant completes the entire second year courses in the area of specialization. If the applicant is not a nurse practitioner, first year courses may be necessary.
