ART-155: Graphic Design I

3 credit hours

Graphic Design is concerned with communication of message through a combination of text and image. Students will be taught the foundation of graphic design as a medium through the Principles of symmetry, scale, contrast, and others. These Principles of Graphic Design, which are used in the creation of their pieces, will be explored through class exercises, demos, and projects such as formal experiments, posters, brochures, and logos. We will begin to understand the notion of hierarchy within design. We will focus on different forms of creative problem solving and processes to work on these projects. Students will be taught how to effectively use design elements and technology in order to accurately communicate a concept. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
