ART-284: Spatial Investigations in Drawing and Painting

3 credit hours

Artists from different times and different cultures depict space in drawings and paintings in many ways. Renaissance perspective is only one system that has been used. Through lectures and demonstrations, this course will introduce students to alternative ways of representing space within the realm of painting and drawing. Studio work will allow students to explore ways of representing space through both large and small drawings and paintings using a range of materials. Emphasis will be on students finding their own relationship to pictorial space. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
