Emphasizes family-centered nursing care of the childbearing family. Through a combination of preventative, maintenance, and restorative nursing measures, the needs of the childbearing family are met. The student is provided with an array of opportunities to implement nursing care to childbearing families and to look at developmental, family, applicable research findings. Viewing the family as part of the community is incorporated throughout the course and practicum.
