4 credit hours
The purpose of the practicum sequence in the Applied Behavior Analysis program is to provide students with systematic exposure to a range of clients, settings, and behavioral issues typical of those encountered by professional behavior analysts. Representative settings include residential ICF/MR units, group homes serving clients exhibiting a range of developmental disabilities, and medical and university based centers delivering services to clients with traumatic brain injury, behavioral deficits due to senile dementia and/or Alzheimer’s, and both children and adults across the autism spectrum. Students are expected to acquire competencies in relevant behavior analytic skills, including behavioral observation and functional assessment/analysis, development of individualized behavior plans (IBP), delivery of behavioral interventions, ongoing client monitoring, data collection, multi-form analysis of behavioral data with a view toward ongoing treatment change, as well as appropriate data-driven modification of treatment interventions.
