NURS-656: Principles of Pharmacology in Advanced Practice Nursing

3 credit hours
Explores advanced concepts and applications of pharmacotherapeutics, including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in select patient populations. Drug interactions, including OTC and Herbal Preparations, are examined. Use of pharmacological therapies for non-Indicated uses is examined. Emphasis is on pharmacologic agents used in primary care practice and classes of drugs utilized to cure or treat a variety of pathophysiological processes. Pharmacologic application to promote disease prevention and health promotion is emphasized.

Prerequisite courses:NURS-639, at the discretion of the instructor (MSN program faculty).
