NURS-610: Teaching and Learning Strategies in Nursing Education

2 credit hours
Cognitive theories and adult learning theory are presented. A review of the principles of teaching occurs. Teaching strategies and learning activities considering differences in learning style and cultural differences of the learner are examined. Analysis of the differences between assessment and evaluation is studied. Students learn to assess the needs of students, clients and participants; prepare measurable outcomes; develop a lesson plan and unit of instruction; use resources in the delivery of the unit of instruction; and then to evaluate their own teaching and strategies chosen. Students will gain experience in the selection and evaluation of instructional strategies.

Prerequisite courses:NURS-608 NURS-609 NURS-661 or at the discretion of the instructor (MSN program faculty).
