Elementary Program
The program of preparation for the Bachelor of Science Education in Elementary Education, and for the initial certificate for teaching, includes a University Studies component, a professional preparation component, a related studies component, and an academic-emphasis component.
Students are required to participate in 240 hours of field-based service learning activities that are conducted in public or parochial/private schools. At least half of these hours must be in diverse settings, including one with special needs students.
In the clinical experience/student teaching, candidates spend approximately half of the total 14 weeks in each of two non-adjacent levels of the elementary grades or full-time in a primary school.
