Doctorate in Executive Leadership (Ed.D)

The Spalding University Doctorate in Executive Leadership program prepares top organizational leaders and managers with the knowledge and skills to advance for-profit or non-profit organizations with rigorous cutting-edge research and collaborative study to impact the world of policy and evidence-based practice. The integrated and flexible format for instruction meets the business world’s requirement for applicable and dynamic learning for organizational best practices. The community of scholars’ capstone culminates in a dissertation which is pertinent to the participant’s organization or a community organization requesting assistance. The Executive Leadership Doctoral program will transform participants into executives who are exemplary practitioners of organizational research, extraordinary culture and team builders, drivers of change and innovation, models of entrepreneurship, influential in global communications and compassionate and mindful leaders.

Admission
Candidates must be senior leaders and managers who demonstrate a record of substantive leadership and administration. These candidates will be expected to apply the program knowledge acquired to address organizational dynamics and systems in for-profit or non-profit companies.

Qualified candidates will present:

  • Official college transcripts documenting completion of a master’s degree
  • A current resume
  • A double-spaced essay of no more than five typed pages, but no less than three, providing a personal definition exemplifying the behaviors of an executive leader. In addition, the candidate will state the rationale and purpose for pursuing this degree, and describe his or her long-term professional goals using examples of personal leadership in the community and the workplace
  • In person for an interview with doctoral faculty

All candidates must have a master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. If the candidate is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program, she or he may still apply with the understanding that no doctoral class may be taken until the Master's Degree is officially completed. Applications are reviewed to take into account the candidate’s skills and attributes to identify individuals who show potential for executive leadership in this program and for organizational success.
