Transfer Credit

On recommendation of the major school, a regular graduate student may transfer up to 12 hours toward a graduate degree or certificate of at least 36 hours, 9 hours toward a degree or certificate of at least 33 hours, and 6 hours toward a degree or certificate of at least 30 hours.

A student in the Master of Fine Arts in Writing program may transfer 12-16 hours from another low-residency Master of Fine Arts in Writing program if the semester was completed satisfactorily. The student may transfer 12-16 hours from a traditional Master of Fine Arts in Writing program if the program director determines that the course work completed is equivalent to the work completed in a term at Spalding.

A student in the Master of Social Work program who has completed the social work foundation courses in another accredited social work program may transfer up to 18 credit hours of course work plus practicum hours.

With the approval of the Director of Graduate Training (or other graduate faculty member designated by the chair of the School of Professional Psychology), a student in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology program may transfer up to 30 credits earned in comparable courses completed in accredited master's degree programs.

In the Doctor of Education program, students may transfer up to 12 credits toward their cognate area. These credits must be at the post-master's level.

A maximum of 6 transfer credit hours of Occupational Therapy courses will be allowed to fulfill the requirements for the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy with approval from the Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy chair.

Exceptions to the transfer credit policy must have the approval of the Graduate Committee and the Provost.
