KSAP-374: Landscape Painting: Site, Sight, and Structure

3 credit hours

Spatial structure, gesture and color from direct observation will be the emphasis of this course. Students will visit traditional and non-traditional landscape sites and investigate possibilities for structuring paintings. A "site" might include an interior space or set-up. Direct observation as well as manipulation and reconstruction of what is seen to create an experience of a space will lead students to concepts that interest them and inform their work.
