KSAP-383: Spatial Investigations

3 credit hours
In this course both western and eastern perspective systems including Chinese, Japanese, and Islamic art will be explored. While some work will be based on observational drawing and painting with an emphasis on active processes of hollowing out and structurally building space, the study of dynamic and symbolic flattening of space and geometric systems will also be analyzed and practiced. A wide range of materials will be used for small and large-scale drawings and paintings. Emphasis will be on students finding their own relationship to pictorial space.
