EDU-585: Inclusive Classroom

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the characteristics and needs of students identified with disabilities or who are 'at-risk' for failure in general education classrooms. The course will also provide preservice teachers with techniques and strategies to facilitate the inclusion of students with disabilities, English language learners and students who are “at-risk for school failure. Specific strategies in instructional modifications, classroom behavior management, promoting social acceptance, and modifying the classroom environment to accommodate all learners will be presented.
Prerequisite: Upper-division status
