NURS-482: Dimensions of Mental Health Nursing

Provides an overview of selected theories of human behavior which guide the nursing care of people across the lifespan who are on various points of the mental health-mental illness continuum. Emphasis is placed on the therapeutic use of self in the application of the nursing process. The student has opportunities to participate as a member of the interdisciplinary mental health team and to provide nursing care to individuals who have acute and/or severely disabling mental disorders. Clinical experience is provided in both public and private, acute and community mental health facilities.
