Certificate Program for Rank I Classification (Planned 6th Year Program)
The Planned 6th Year Rank I Program is designed for individuals committed to the classroom who plan to further their professional teacher education. The thirty (30) credit hours required for a Rank I must be completed after a Master’s degree/Rank II is awarded. Credits from a Master’s degree cannot be counted toward the Rank I Planned 6th Year Program unless the Master’s degree is above 30 hours.
Admission Requirements
A 2.75 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale;
Current Kentucky Teaching Certificate;
A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution;
Two (2) favorable letters of recommendation. One must be from a direct supervisor;
An interview with faculty;
Completed application packet.
Program Structure
The program is largely electives based, with six required credit hours and twenty-four credit hours chosen by the candidate and his/her advisor.
A minimum GPA of 3.00 is required for successful exit from the program. One course grade of F or two course grades of C lead to automatic dismissal from the program and Spalding University.
