ARTH-310: History of Graphic Design

This course surveys the history of graphic design from antiquity to the present, highlighting the key artists, technologies, creative practices, and period/styles that have shaped the graphic design field. It examines the origins of writing, printing, and typography, their pivotal transformations over time, as well as more recent stylistic developments and global trends in web, multimedia, and interactive design. Class lectures, discussions, and assignments focus on how certain developments in history have impacted the evolution of visual communication.
