WGST-201: Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies

This course provides an interdisciplinary introduction to women’s and gender studies and explores critical questions related to the everchanging meaning of gender in society. We will examine key theoretical concepts within the field of study, research the history of women’s movements and women’s studies in America, uncover how gender is socially and culturally projected, unpack the interconnections between gender and power, and understand how intersectionality shapes lived experiences. This course can be used to satisfy a Social Sciences requirement for University Studies.
