This course will focus upon multiple dimensions of potential crises when working with substance abusing clients and their families, e.g. overdosing, homelessness, and the risk of violence. Special attention will be paid to crisis intervention theory and offering practical techniques to think through possible responses and interventions. Through the use of case studies, students will develop basic skills required to work with substance abusing clients.
