In this course students explore the viewer-space relationship by breaking down the traditional parameters of where and how art is experienced. What happens when the viewer experience of a constructed social environment becomes the art? Can the artist be a conduit for a valuable social experience such as a communal meal or a discussion? What happens when art enters a situation outside the art world? Can artists effectively alter the spaces in which we live causing us to change the way we see and use them? Students have the opportunity to consider these questions as they develop a series of unrelated works or a body of related ones. Individual interests determine the direction and content of the work.

Prerequisite: Sophomore standing and KSA-130 or consent of the instructor
