KSAP-375: The Expanded Picture Plane
3 credit hours
Much contemporary painting operates in the space between painting and sculpture. In this class students will have the opportunity to use shaped supports, installations and mixed media to make work that breaks out of the tradition of the rectangular painting. Finding and developing your individual direction is an important part of the class. The class projects will be structured to encourage students to move their work in their own direction. The work of a wide range of contemporary artists working in this area, sometimes referred to as “expanded painting”, will be discussed.
