ART-300: Collaboration and Community

3 credit hours

This Art course fuses elements of creative project-based learning, experiential learning, and team-based learning into real-world projects. Students will have the opportunity to explore areas of professional interest while learning to approach problems through a creative lens. They will participate in a collaborative creative problem-solving project under the supervision of the course instructor and with a director of a local non-profit organization. Students will work in teams and will connect directly with local non-profits to identify a community need and to develop and execute a creative solution addressing that need. Students will grasp the relevance of their work and develop skills in design thinking & creative problem-solving, collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, project management, and leadership. This experience can inform future career pathways and career options and serve as an opportunity to practice career and networking skills through real-world experiences.

This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
