KSAG-374: Information Graphics

3 credit hours

This course addresses visual problem solving through collecting and interpreting data in a graphic manner. The subject matter and source of this data can either be historical or contemporary, local or general, and will touch upon the individual goals of the student to help them become an effective designer and artist. The student is exposed to methods that translate data into visual solutions to include all styles of printed and interactive communications. Topics of reading will consist of media studies, critical texts of meaning and manipulation, and case studies in data and the interpretation of data. Over the course of the class, we will work together to help the student realize, through their research, where they want to situate themselves within the fields of art and design and what and how they wish to communicate with their work.
