ART-278: Landscape Painting
Students will explore painting while being immersed in nature. Learning about the simple logistics of landscape painting such as transporting materials or setting up an easel outside, while also observing and responding to the change of color during different times of day. This course awakens students to the organic shapes of a pristine forest but also the grittiness of an urban environment. Investigations into the traditional and nontraditional landscape along with an historical understanding of the landscape in a historical make this course extremely informative and exciting. Direct observation as well as manipulation and reconstruction of what is seen to create an experience of a space will lead students to concepts that interest them and inform their work. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
