HS-350: Becoming a Consumer of Evidence-Informed Research

3 credit hours

Undergrad students are not expected to conduct research, but they are expected to become credible consumers of research.  To become a consumer of scientific research, students need to learn how to evaluate the various research reports that they will encounter.  Key elements of the course include developing a sense of inquiry, how to search the literature, determine good sources for ensuring authoritative and accurate information, and conducting research critiques. Students will complete a comprehensive search of the literature to determine the availability of evidence on a topic of interest and how to analyze research studies for its application to practice.
