Acadeum Consortium
Acadeum Policy
Spalding University is a member of the Acadeum course sharing network, which facilitates online course sharing among institutions that have similar curricular goals and academic quality standards. Acadeum provides opportunities for Spalding students to enroll in other member institutions' online courses to stay on track to completion.
Courses taken through the Acadeum course sharing network are transcribed as Spalding courses, and charges for these courses appear on students’ Spalding accounts, simplifying procedures as compared to standard transfer courses.
University Studies course requirements and major course requirements for a degree at Spalding may not be satisfied through Acadeum registration unless:
- The student can demonstrate a bona fide schedule conflict at Spalding University;
- The student’s progress for degree is unreasonably delayed due to Spalding’s course schedule; or
- If the Dean approves a petition by the student for the substitution.
Acadeum registration for the substitution of courses required in University Studies or major course requirements requires the approval of the student’s Academic Advisor/Faculty Advisor and the Dean of Undergraduate Education. The Chair or Director of the student’s major will be notified.
Each student (undergraduate) is limited to no more than four Acadeum classes (12 credit hours) to complete their degree at Spalding.
Students are only eligible to take courses through Acadeum if:
- They are in good standing at Spalding (has maintained a 2.00 GPA at the undergraduate level) and
- They have earned a minimum of 12 hours at Spalding
More information about Acadeum, as well as a list of courses available, can be found at the Acadeum website. Students who wish to take courses under this program must consult with their Academic Advisor/Faculty Advisor on the process of how to secure course approval and enrollment. Spalding reserves the right to determine acceptability for credit of courses taken at other institutions.
