MATH-113: College Algebra

3 credit hours

Various topics that are involved in the study of algebra will be examined in this course. The following topics will be covered: polynomials, factoring polynomials, polynomial equations, rational expressions, simplifying radicals, equations with radicals, complex numbers, quadratic equations, quadratic functions, algebra of functions, function composition, inverse functions, exponential functions, exponential equations, logarithmic functions, and logarithmic equations. Applications of the aforementioned algebraic topics will be considered as time permits. This course can be used to satisfy a University Studies requirement.

Prerequisite: MATH-104 or sufficient math placement score or sufficient standardized test score as published in the Mathematics Placement Policy in the Spalding University Catalog.
