This course will survey artistic traditions of non-Western cultures such as Africa, China, India, Japan, the Middle East, Oceania, and pre-Columbian Central and South America. Relevant philosophies, customs, and values will be discussed and will enhance the aesthetic appreciation of the culture. Illustrated lectures and analytical practices will be supported by students visiting local museums and galleries to examine selected works of art.
