EDD-901: Building an Organizational Culture of Teaching and Learning
This course examines the history of organizational culture and learning from a multi-disciplinary viewpoint. It explores the diverse development of culture and knowledge acquisition and ways in which organizational leaders can create an environment that cultivates and sustains best practices in teaching and learning with an emphasis on compassion, ethics and justice. Central to this course is the concept of teaching skills as leadership competencies. This course introduces critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, as well as academic writing and presentation skills, and this course initiates the conversation concerning what a dissertation is and how it should be structured. In conjunction with this exposure, the student learns how to identify and work with a dissertation committee, learns American Psychological Association (APA) style, learns how to conduct database research and learns to conduct literature reviews in what each student identifies as his or her initial area of research interest.
