ART-106: Four-Dimensional Design

This course is an introduction to the tools, techniques, and concepts of time-based arts. Through the use of computers, video, photography and sound, students will be introduced to the basic concepts of art and design in space and time. Assignments emphasize characteristics of time and movement, moving image, serial, sequential, and narrative ordering, still and moving image editing, sound and image relations, as well as Media installation and performance. The course will also include discussions on contemporary issues related to time-based arts. The 4-D course is a foundation course which expands and complements the other foundation courses and prepares interested students for further study with time-based media. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
