PSY-880: Advanced Clinical Skills: Supervision and Consultation

This course will review the major theories and techniques of clinical supervision, with an emphasis on current research and evidenced based supervisory practices. This course will also provide for an intense experiential learning of how to provide supervision, as the students enrolled (Practicum IV level) will peer-supervise Practicum II students, under the supervision of the course instructor. An emphasis throughout the course will be students develop a clear understanding and application of the APA Ethics Code relevant to supervision. Additionally, the course will focus on multi-cultural considerations in the supervisory relationship. Further, as clinical consultation and clinical supervision are closely related, current trends and practices in clinical consultation will also be a focus of this course.
