HS-605: Assistive Technology Leadership and Advocacy

Leadership and advocacy are vital skills for practitioners providing assistive technology services for individuals with physical, cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities. This course provides the knowledge and skills for students to begin to initiate change processes within practice communities to enhance access for individuals with disabilities. Several models of systems change and sustainability of innovations will be presented and participants will develop a plan for facilitating change in their practice environment. Legal obligations of serving agencies e.g., P-12 schools system, will be presented.
