RS-370: Religion, Art, and Visual Culture
3 credit hours
This course is an introduction to critical issues involved in the study of religion, art, and visual culture. Students will examine the arts, but also seek to understand the overall process of visuality whereby the human activity of seeing becomes a meaningful and religious experience. Thus, students will look at the role of the arts in relation to various religious traditions, but also look at the way vision changes from culture to culture, religion to religion. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
