AAS-201: Introduction to African American Studies

This course Introduces students to the academic discipline of African American Studies. Students will be introduced to critical issues, themes, perspectives, debates, and emerging trajectories within the discipline. In addition to orienting students to the discipline of African American Studies, the course also exposes students to significant historical, social, political, and cultural issues that have shaped the experiences of people of African descent in the United States. (Meets University Studies Requirement for Social Sciences)
