AAS-300: African Civilizations
3 credit hours
This course provides a survey of Africa’s contributions to world history and civilization beginning around 5000 B.C.E. up to the modern era. The course explores not only the history of African civilizations, but also dispels myths about African religious, political, and cultural concepts. An analysis of the major issues faced by various African civilization is discussed as well. The European hegemonic forces that sought to change and/or control Africa are covered in the course, however, it is taught from the consciousness of victory and the stories are told from African perspectives. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
