ART-382: Figure Painting
3 credit hours
This course is an opportunity for students interested in painting the figure to work intensively from the model. Through observation students will strengthen their understanding of anatomy, gesture and color. Through painting practice and critique students will continue to develop their understanding of composition, light, space and handling of materials. The work of artists who have used the figure throughout art history will be shown and discussed to develop an understanding of the context within which students today are working as painters. As the course progresses students will be encouraged to explore their own directions.
