This course examines the history of healthcare informatics, current issues, basic information concepts, and health information management systems. The use of technology to help make decisions and to improve the health status of the individual, family, and community will be emphasized. The course will explore the roles of a health information professional, an introduction to legal aspects of insurance billing and the role of the State Insurance Commission.
