This course will focus on multiple dimensions of potential crises when working with substance abusing clients and their families (e.g., overdosing, homelessness, and the risk of violence). Special attention will be paid to crisis intervention theory and practical strategies for thinking through possible responses and interventions. Using case studies, students will develop basic skills required to work with substance abusing clients.
