Graduation with Honors (graduate)

Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.)

Graduating with Distinction:

Starting with the 2024-25 AY, doctoral students will be able to graduate “With Distinction” noted on their diploma. This is meant to offer well deserved recognition to those students who progress through the program with integrity and professionalism, who meet all programmatic expectations without having to repeat any coursework or programmatic exams, and who remain in good standing throughout their program. Specific requirements are:

  • Graduating with at least a 3.8 GPA and no C grades
  • No loss of good standing (meaning never being placed on Probation)
  • No repeated remediation for same or very similar concerns (being on remediation itself does not disqualify from graduating with distinction as it is not a loss of good standing and often part of the learning process)
  • Passage of the Comprehensive Examination on the first attempt
  • Passage of the Qualifying Examination on the first attempt
  • Successful defense of the dissertation by the May deadline of the internship year
  • Successful completion of an APA accredited internship

Any enrolled student who meets these criteria will graduate “With Distinction” noted on their academic record and official diploma. A recognition cord will be given to those who walk at graduation.
