Physical Therapy (Post-Professional DPT)

The Post-Professional DPT is an option for licensed physical therapists seeking to earn a doctor of physical therapy degree. Applicants to the post-professional DPT curriculum must complete a Spalding University Graduate School application, provide evidence of a current physical therapy license in any US jurisdiction, and have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA in previous graduate coursework.

The post-professional track requires 30 credit hours of coursework for completion. A minimum of 20 credits of Spalding University DPT Program coursework is required. Students can transfer up to 10 credits of previous graduate-level physical therapy coursework, or can complete all 30 credit hours of coursework at Spalding University. Transfer credits are approved by the program Director.  

Accreditation Status

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) does not apply to post-professional physical therapy programs.


Post-Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy + Master of Business Administration (PPDPT + MBA) Dual Degree
The Post-Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy (PPDPT) is an option for potential students who are currently licensed as an physical therapist by a state regulatory board and in good standing with professional regulatory agencies. Candidates for the post professional DPT should have one year of professional physical therapy practice experience.

In keeping with the mission of Spalding University, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) prepares today's professionals to meet organizational needs by integrating advanced business, interpersonal, and communication competencies in a rigorous and relevant curriculum that emphasizes critical thought and ethical reasoning.

The PP DPT + MBA Dual Degree is a combined degree pathway intended to support students’ development of leadership, health management, and preparation to teach in higher education. Students will have the options between two tracks:

  • Track 1: PPDPT students may complete the PPDTP program, then complete the General MBA curriculum.
  • Track 2: Students will take the MBA and PP DPT portions simultaneously.

The PP DPT courses will fulfill the elective requirements for the MBA program for both program track options.

Grading policies and dismissal policies each course will apply to both programs.

Students must remain in good academic standing as defined by each program. If the PP DPT degree is not successfully completed, students will have the option to complete 9 credit hours of MBA elective coursework to earn the MBA degree separately.

Application process/eligibility: Apply to Kosair for Kids Post Professional DPT (PP DPT) program first. Once accepted to the PPDPT program, students must complete a supplemental application section that prompts them to complete the essay required for the School of Business MBA application for dual enrollment. Applicants must meet requirements for both programs.
