SGC-620: Social and Legal Issues in School Counseling

Study of processes and programs effective in promoting school wide safety and discipline. The course will cover Special Education due process and procedure. Emphasis on school connections to community security and resources. Preparation given to assess student needs and concerns by applying equity and social justice to all school policies and practices. Content focuses on the planning, implementing, and evaluating of a developmental guidance curriculum that celebrates diversity and provides intervention strategies for diverse learners. Plans include resources for career development inclusive of a diverse student population. (Min. 10 Clock hours of field Experiences required.)
