ART-172: Darkroom Photography I

This studio course introduces students to the fundamentals of photographic darkroom practices. Darkroom Photography I will begin with building pinhole cameras. Students will further build upon those skills, becoming proficient in all aspects of using a manual 35mm camera;, as well as exposing, processing, and printing black & white film. Aesthetics and conceptual development of the photographic vision will be explored. Class demonstrations, lab work, slide lectures, field assignments, and critiques will be performed throughout the course. Students will be challenged to further their everyday experience and dialogue with photography and its potential for visual imagery expression. This course can be used to satisfy University Studies requirements.
