BIO-150: Problem Solving in Natural Science

3 credit hours
Problem Solving in Natural Science is designed for the Natural Science major, or well prepared non-major. This course is a lecture-lab class designed to help NS majors develop analytical and "problem-solving" skills through a variety of techniques, including; deductive and inductive reasoning, analysis of applicable data, as well as reading and critiquing of published results. This course is intended to be interdisciplinary within the realm of Natural Science. Topics for analysis will primarily be drawn from Ecological/Biological issues. The selected topic will then be analyzed for how Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and other scientific disciplines interplay in the action of, or understanding about that topic. Emphasis will be given to collection and analysis of published data regarding the selected topic.
