ART-122: Innovation lab: exploration of material
Once you have been trained to use specific tools available to you in the MakerSpace, you are now ready to explore how to apply this skill while exploring different materials and ways in making. You will learn the value of exploration and discovery that is used in the creative problem-solving process. This course will help you develop grit, work with resourcefulness in mind, develop resilience and will build your self-confidence. Depending on the tools you have been trained in, you will work in both an additive and subtractive manner. If you are working in the wood shop you will learn how to make by first deconstructing forms. If you are working with the laser cutter you will explore the multiple ways of cutting using wood, acrylic, fabric and leather.
You may choose between three of the above areas of interest to complete this one credit course. These workshop opportunities will be generously offered throughout the 18-week period that may be completed as group opportunities during scheduled work-shops or as individual sessions scheduled during open shop hours in the MakerSpace. All sessions will be coordinated with your instructor at the beginning of the fall or spring terms.
Course content needs to be completed during the 18-week fall or spring terms.
