MATH-253: Fundamentals of Calculus I
3 credit hours
This course serves as part one of a sequence specifically designed for students majoring in the life sciences. In this course we will examine the powerful mathematical tool calculus. We will first study the concept of limits. Next we will spend time learning about the concept of a derivative. In particular, we will study the rules for finding derivatives of algebraic and nonalgebraic functions. We will next consider some applications of the derivative. Emphasis will be placed on topics and applications that pertain to the life sciences.
